Kirby 64 The Crystal Shards - Pop Star : Stage 1

I decided to do something a bit different for this playthrough. This one is actually done completely blind, meaning, I have not played this game before, so I recorded my first time playing it. This was made possible because Shagg sent me this game as a Christmas gift on the Wii's virtual console. Thanks, Shagg!

Hehe, not dying sure did not last long in this blind run. Got stuck by glitchy physics mixed with finding out Kirby cannot fly forever anymore, which resulted in death. The stage has some quite peaceful music, though. Getting killed off made me lose my cool power before the mini-boss, which makes me sad.

Poor King Dedede... whenever there is trouble Kirby seems to always head straight for him. Sure, it works out most of the time, but not all the time! I mean, look what happened in Kirby Squeak Squad! That aside, this stage has the first slightly harder to get crystal shards.

Well, being the first 3D Kirby game... sort of... HAL felt it was needed to make the first somewhat 3D Wispy Woods fight! This one is kind of weird because you actually do not attack Wispy's face directly like in every other fight with him in the history of the series. He is still pitifully easy, though.

The second world starts things off with quite a bang! One of the first combo powers you are bound to pick up is Rock Needle... which is easily one of the best powers in the game! It also abruptly introduces you to gates that require a very particular double power to open. The worst part is, this one is easy to confuse between Rock Spark and Needle Spark. Rock Spark is the correct one.

After the type of atmosphere the first stage setup, this stage feels almost out of place in this world. Instead of being purely desert themed, this one seems to be built more around ruins. The music also feels a little out of place... Ah well, the level is still fun, really.

Whoa... another dramatic atmosphere shift here. This time Kirby ends up in a sand-filled underground cavern. There are multiple paths to take, too. I really do like this stage, and it does fit the world quite well, too!

Time to jump on the weird train, woo! This stage starts off back outside in the desert, but you quickly find yourself boarding some sort of floating, glowing, upside-down pyramid of sorts! The enemies are pretty weird too. This whole stage is just all kinds of weird.

The atmosphere from the previous stage was meant to setup for this boss... which is also weird! That seems to be the word of the day, but it is true! The annoying thing about this boss you actually have to spend a significant period of time dodging it before you are even able to hit it!

Kirby 64 The Crystal Shards - Aqua Star : Stage 1

Oh gods no, not the water planet... These have a habit of never being very fun in Kirby games, and Aqua Star is certainly no exception there. The first stage is fine, though, as there is little to no water to be bothered with! There is plenty of room for a RAMPAGE, though!
